Guide to Naturism

New or interested in naturism.

Why do people enjoy being naked? here are a few reasons why practicing naturism can be beneficial to your wellbeing and confidence.

Social nudity promotes a non-judgemental environment, it is liberating, with a sense of freedom, it helps you to accept the skin you are in and increase your self- confidence.

Sleeping naked helps regulate your body temperature and allows your skin to breathe.

Sunbathing naked increases circulation and blood flow by dilating blood vessels and increasing oxygen levels. It also helps with production and absorption of vitamin D an important role in overall health and improves the immune function. (Always remember observing sun safety precautions.)

Being naked is good for your mental and emotional wellbeing, when you swim naked you get a great buzz from the elements, on your body and once you have tried it you will not want to go back to a costume.

Do I need a good body to be a naturist.

The answer to this question is NO!! naturism is not about showing off your body. You learn to be comfortable with yourself and accept the skin you are in, remember there is no such thing as a perfect body. You will also begin to accept your own body more as you will be exposed to normal people of all shapes and sizes. We get a lot of people who say to us I can’t do that as I don’t look good enough, remember what you see on Instagram and media is not real.

Naturism and the law.

You can be naked in public anywhere in the UK, except Scotland as they have their own laws about being naked in a public place.

Being naked in public is lawful provided you do not cause harm, offence, or alarm to the public. If you are interested in being naturist abroad it is worth researching their laws as some overseas destinations do not allow nudity on beaches or in public.

Body hair is this acceptable or do I need to shave to go naturist.

Body hair is your choice, there is no judgement, you can be hairy or smooth, it really is your decision.

What should I wear when I go to a naturist venue.

Try and wear loose fitted clothing this can be more comfortable and easier to remove and put back on again if you don’t feel ready to bear all, if you are new to naturism. Check venue rules, as some require you to be dressed in the evening, take a sarong which doubles up as something to sit on.

Naturism for the family.

Naturist venues are very safe places for children, and young children generally love being naked, Europe is very accepting of family naturism, but always research if you are thinking of taking a holiday further afield as some resorts do not allow children. Check out Naturism for France as they have some great venues for children, with clubs and activities.

Beach etiquette

Beaches are a great place to visit, check out British Naturism for a list of naturist beaches in the UK, if in Spain or France you will find that they are easier to find, you can even ask at the tourist information! When visiting a beach you will normally find that they are not near any facilities, so make sure you plan ahead and bring everything you need for the day. When choosing a spot, give people space. We personally love going to the beach, especially in France and Spain where there are more facilities on the naturist beaches, including bars, toilets and sun loungers.
